Reasonable Accommodations

DePaul University is required to make reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals with a disability, who are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as individuals with a disability who satisfy the job-related requirements of a position held or desired, and who can perform the "essential functions" of such a position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

When a job accommodation is requested, a representative of Employee Relations will confer with the employee with regard to the type of accommodation that will enable the employee to perform the essential functions of the position. The requirements of the particular position and the employee’s physical or mental limitations will be evaluated in order to determine the accommodation that will be effective. In addition, the employee or potential employee may be required to complete a written request for reasonable accommodation and provide physician certification of his/her disability.

For additional information, please contact an Employee Relations representative at (312) 362-8506 or (312) 362-8577. Also, refer to the university Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) policy.
